Biography
Her area of practice is general tax matters, including income tax, sales and use tax, employment tax, and employee benefits matters.
She has participated in closing agreement negotiations with municipalities and assisted with obtaining sales and use tax exemptions before the Puerto Rico Treasury Department, as well as provided counsel in relation to other state and municipal tax matters. Ms. Rodríguez-Hernández has also assisted clients with appeals and other business matters before the Internal Revenue Service. She has also assisted non-profit organizations in obtaining tax exempt status from the Puerto Rico Treasury Department.
Her experience also includes consumer affairs regulation matters, government bid procurement, retail banking, contract negotiation, tax incentives, and assisting clients with commencement of business procedures at the state and federal level.
Prior to joining McConnell Valdés, Ms. Rodríguez-Hernández worked as a corporate and tax attorney at a San Juan law firm where she assisted clients with tax planning matters at the corporate and individual level. While in law school, she was a research assistant for Prof. Chloé Georas Santos. She was also a student intern at the Puerto Rico Department of Justice Division of Tax, Collections, and Expropriations.
Ms. Rodríguez-Hernández is also a Certified Public Accountant.
